I currently attend UNH as an English major. I love to write and hope that one day someone will pay me to do it.
I fell in love with journalism when I took time off from school and was forced to get a full time job. I called my local newspaper and they threw me into the water. “Sink or swim,” was my editor’s mantra. I worked as a full time staff reporter at Foster’s Daily Democrat for almost two years. My first beat was the North Country beat which included all the daily news happenings of several small towns. I was eventually moved from the Rochester Bureau to the Portsmouth Bureau where my new beat covered the towns of York, Kittery and Eliot.
During my time at the newspaper I witnessed drunk men urinating in the river behind my office, had a sniper point his gun in my face, got stepped on by a bull, rode in numerous police cars, watched a helicopter land at an elementary school and met all the candidates running for both small town office positions to those running for President of the United States.
